Our Mission

The mission of Pets on Wheels is to provide animal companionship.  We improve the quality of life for nursing home, assisted living residents, and homebound seniors in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area through regular pet visitation by our volunteers and their loving pets.

Pets on Wheels is working to increase our volunteer services and to demonstrate how pets can make a dramatic difference in the well-being of our aging population.

“On the Alzheimer’s floor there is a resident who does not speak and has not been responding to pets.  This all changed recently when one of the nurses held my little dog up to her and she started to talk and tell us a story of a pet she had and the name of the dog and breed.  The nurse said it was the first time she had communicated or even spoken in a long time.  This has been excellent for her."
